HOUDINI WORK

HOUDINI GENERALIST
Utilizing the truly magical software to bring grooming. cloth, particles, pyro, and RBDs into the scene
Houdini has been a core part of my VFX workflow, giving me the flexibility to create both dynamic and realistic simulations. I’ve worked with pyro to advect particles, crafted smoke simulations, and built complex RBD setups — from fractured geometry with hard and soft constraints to layered destruction effects. Whether it’s simulating flowing grains or driving particle motion through custom attributes, I’m always exploring new ways to push procedural systems for real-time applications.
MAGICAL VINES
Houdini’s RBD system to simulate a dramatic ground destruction effect, with fractured terrain, scattered grass, and dynamic debris. To enhance the atmosphere, I incorporated smoke simulations and relit the scene to evoke an ethereal, otherworldly mood. While the project remained unfinished due to limited access to a license, it was a valuable exploration of combining physical simulations with artistic lighting to convey emotion and impact.
GOAT SUMMONER
A summoning effect using Houdini’s pyro and RBD systems. The VFX featured particles advected by pyro, swirling and spiraling along a curve to form the assembly of an arcane structure. To heighten the dark, mystical feel, I layered animated fire atop the assembled rbd, giving the summoning ritual a powerful, otherworldly energy. This project was a deep dive into blending procedural simulations with stylized effects to create a dramatic, magical sequence.
GROOM - CLOTH
In my motion capture projects, I use Houdini to simulate groom and cloth dynamics, bringing realistic motion to characters. I export these simulations into Unreal Engine via geometry caches, where I add real-time VFX — like particles and atmospheric effects — to enhance the final look. This workflow blends physical accuracy with artistic flair, creating dynamic, immersive scenes.
